Seven months back movie lovers were convinced that 2020 was going to be best year for entertainment but the opposite happened. There were many lined up movies for 2020 but due to pandemic they were not released in theatres. But presently as the world is grappling with an unprecedented pandemic. The movie lovers have turned out to watch BEST MOVIES RELEASED ON OTT PLATFORMS THIS YEAR.
Many films that were about to release on big screens were released on OTT platforms. Some of the films that were about to release this year are postponed to other dates due to delay in production, shooting because of the pandemic outbreak. Some of the movies were released on OTT platforms. Though, it was also an opportunity for OTT platforms as there are plenty of movies available.
Due to this digitization industry saw a major transformation in movies releasing on OTT platform. GULABO SITABO – Best MOVIES RELEASED ON OTT PLATFORMS
It is always a treat for movie lovers to watch Mr. Bachchan on screen especially fans of BigB. This movie was basically meant for a theatrical release as BigB fans were eagerly waiting or the release of Shoojit Sircar’s, Gulabo Sitabo, Ek Priceless Jodi. Ayushman Khurana, another talented and brilliant actor who has given many noteworthy films is starring alongside Mr. Bachchan in this movie. Juhi Chaturvedi has written this quirky family film. This is among the best movies released on OTT platforms in 2020. This was released on 12th June on AMAZON PRIME VIDEO.
DIL BECHARA
Dil Bechara is the hindi adaption of American author John Green’s novel ‘The Fault in Our Stars’. Mukesh Chhabra helmed this movie featuring ate actor Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi in the lead roles. This movie is a romantic drama. This marvelous masterpiece was premiered on 24th July on DISNEY+ HOTSTAR. The best thing about the movie was this was available for subscribers as well as non- subscribers. Raat Akeli Hai is a nail- biting Indian murder mystery. The film revolves around a mystery of a high-profile murder that happens in a small town. Honey Trehan has directed this film. It features Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Radhika Apte, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Shweta Tripathi, Shivani Raghuvanshi, Nishant Dahiya, Ila Arun, Swanand Kirkire and Aditya Srivastava. The movie was released on 31st July on NETFLIX.
GUNJAN SAXENA: THE KARGIL GIRL
Gujan Saxena is also among the best and most awaited movies of 2020 rather we can say a best biopic. This movie revolves around the country’s first female airforce pilot who took part in combat mission during the Kargil War in 1999. In this biopic, Janhvi Kapoor is seen playing the role of Gunjan Saxena and Pankaj Tripathi as his father while Angad Bedi is seen in the supporting role. Dharma Productions has produced this biopic which has taken hearts of many movie lovers. This was released on 12th August on NETLIX.
SHAKUNTALA DEVI – Best MOVIES RELEASED ON OTT PLATFORMS
This is another phenomenal biopic film. This movie revolves around Shakuntala Devi who was famously known as human computer, she could solve complex calculations within seconds. She was not only a mathematician but also a writer and an astrologer. This movie stars Vidya Balan as Shakuntala Devi and also features Sanya Malhotra. Anu Menon has directed this biopic. This is exciting for all of us to see Vidya Balan again in action. The movie was released on 30th July on AMAZON PRIME VIDEO.
GHOOMKETU
Ghoomketu revolves around the story of an aspiring writer from a small town who comes to Mumbai to fulfil his dreams. The struggle story of Ghoomketu to make it big in Bollywood is loved by all. Nawazuddin Siddiqui is seen playing a lead in this movie. Director Anurag Kashyap for a change was seen playing the role of a corrupt cop. Other stars seen are Ragini Khanna, Raghubir Yadav and Brijendra Kala. This was released on 22nd May on ZEE5.
CLASSS OF ’83 – Best MOVIES RELEASED ON OTT PLATFORMS
This film is based on the book ‘The Class of ‘83’. The story revolves around a cop who gets posted to the police academy, and he in a fit pipque trains five assassin policemen. Atul Sabharwal has directed the film. There is plenty of hope from this film as Shahrukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment has produced. The cast are Sunny Deol, Anup Soni and Joy Sengupta. CARGO
CARGO is an Indian Sci-fi movie written as well as directed by Arati Kadav. The film production is held by Shlok Sharma, Naveen Shetty and Anurag Kashyap. Starring Vikrant Massey and Shweta Tripathi, this film is based on PUSHPAK 634A, a spaceship. The story includes a demon Prahastha. This demons work for the Post Death Transition services along with the help of a female astronaut. This film is moreover was premiered in MIAMI Film Festival 2019, under spotlight section. This film was featured on 9th September on NETFLIX.
